A True Story — Named After the Daughter

Built From
Nothing

$500. A wrecked caravan. A daughter who needed a safe home. The builder builds, even in the pit.

Skylha Homes was not born in a boardroom. It was not the output of a market analysis or a government grant proposal. It was born on the side of a country road in Adelaide — from a caravan no one else wanted, from a father who had lost everything, and from a promise made in the dark that he would build something the world could not take away.

The Hustle
June 2019 — December 2021

June 2019. Sherwin meets the mother of Skylha. By April 2021 he is working full-time as a security guard at a shopping centre in Runaway Bay on the Gold Coast — showing up, doing the work, building a life. When COVID borders finally open in December 2021, he flies to Adelaide. His stepdad has passed away. He stays with his mum to grieve. Skylha and her mum come too.

Bored. No work. No plan. Just grief and time. So he does what builders do — he finds something broken and asks what it could become.

He buys 9 wrecked Ford Cortinas — classic cars, written off, total capital invested: $6,000. He transforms one into a show car. The transformation was a beauty. His mum and two aunties watch him from the windows, pulling parts in the driveway. He recruits all three — orders, production, running the operation out of a suburban house in Adelaide.

"His mum and two aunties watched him from the windows, pulling parts. He recruited all three."

The $500 Caravan
The Moment Everything Changed

He buys a wreck caravan from the country for $500 — $700 including delivery. When he opens the door, he finds something unexpected.

The interior had been set up as an enclosure space. Built-in furniture. A complete living setup — a home inside something the world had thrown away. Hidden inside what everyone else saw as scrap.

"

A home inside something the world threw away.

He renovates it. Sells it for $3,700 profit. This is the moment. Not the money — the idea. If you can find a home inside what the world discarded, you can build homes for the people the world has discarded too. The idea of Skylha Homes begins here.

Eight more caravans bought. Renovated. Sold. In less than a month. The pattern is clear. The builder sees potential in things that look finished.

Tragedy
2022 — April 2023

His mum and two sisters are involved in a car accident. They survive, but need six months of counselling and physiotherapy. He keeps building. Everything around him is being transformed or renovated.

January 2023: Skylha and her mum fly to the Gold Coast to visit family. One month later — the call: "We're not coming back. She has another partner."

Devastation. Separated from his daughter. Then April 26, 2023 — a protection order is filed against him. Falsely accused as the abuser. Not allowed near Skylha or her mother.

"The builder builds, even in the pit."

Skylha Homes · Origin Record · 2026

The darkest time. But he kept building. Not because it was easy. Not because anything made sense. Because the builder builds. That is what he does. Everything around him — broken things, wrecked things, forgotten things — gets transformed. He could not stop, even when the most important thing in his life had been taken.

Light in the Dark
Mid — Late 2023

He meets Ruby. She lived two houses down from his mum. Three months of happiness — light in the middle of the darkest year of his life.

End of September 2023. The call that changed everything. Skylha's maternal grandmother calls from the hospital.

"Come and collect your daughter. She is badly malnourished and physically abused by her mother and partner."

The Call · September 2023

A 2,400 kilometre drive. His mother and Ruby beside him. Excited. Terrified. He has not seen his daughter in ten months.

But the outstanding protection order limits access. Child Safety takes control due to the neglect — and the false DVO that was filed against him complicates everything. The man who is trying to save his daughter is still legally restricted from being near her.

The Fight
October — December 2023

Nearly three months fighting Child Safety and the Federal Court. Every week a new hearing, a new document, a new system standing between a father and his daughter.

End of December 2023: Skylha is granted to him full-time.

His lawyer sends 168 pages of reports. The details break him to pieces.

"

I blamed myself for not being the father I was supposed to be. Her protector. But I failed to deliver my duty of care.

He carries this. He does not set it down. But he does not let it stop him either. The weight of those 168 pages becomes the foundation of what he builds next.

Chapter Six
Rock Bottom
Early 2024

No permanent home. Hotels. Cars. A caravan. Skylha has just recovered from trauma and physical injuries. He needs to give her stability — but he has none to give.

So he does the only thing he knows. He transforms a van into a motorhome. Four months on the road with his daughter — her recovery, his care, the Gold Coast, the highway, wherever they could land.

Emergency accommodation finally found. And he goes back to what he knows — caravans. $500 capital. Again. The cycle restarts, but now with something it never had before: a reason that won't let him quit.

"$500 capital. Again. The cycle restarts, but now with purpose."

Skylha Homes · Origin Record · 2026

THE PATTERN: $500 caravan → renovate → sell → $500 caravan → renovate → sell. The same loop he started in Adelaide. But the man inside the loop has changed entirely. He is no longer building to survive. He is building to prove something — to Skylha, to God, to everyone who wrote him off.

The Promise
The Oath That Became Everything

At some point in the darkest stretch — the motorhome, the road, the courts, the 168 pages — he made a promise. Not to an investor. Not to a government agency. Not to a board. To God.

The Promise

"I promised God — if you don't give up on me and my family,
I will do whatever you want me to do.
"

That promise became Skylha Homes.

The name is not a brand. It is not a trademark chosen in a marketing meeting. It is the name of the daughter who never had a safe home — until her father built one.

Every caravan he transformed. Every Ford Cortina he sold with his mum watching from the window. Every night in the motorhome while his daughter slept and he drove. All of it — all of it — was training for this.

The Mission
$500 → 1 Million Homes

Australia needs one million homes. The man who lived in a motorhome with his daughter is going to build them.

Not as a thought experiment. Not as a pitch deck exercise. As a builder who has been building since he had nothing — who understands, from the inside of a $500 caravan with built-in furniture, that a home is not a product. It is the difference between safety and danger. Between family and separation. Between a life and survival.

🌏
OFW Families
Overseas Filipino Workers who send money home to their families — because he understands, personally, what family separation costs. They deserve a home in the country they are building.
🏫
Family-Focused Design
Walking distance to schools, clinics, childcare, parks. Because he spent four months without any of it. Every design decision comes from lived experience, not market research.
🔒
Safe by Design
A daughter who never had a safe home gave her name to this. Every home carries that history. Safety is not a feature — it is the foundation.
💰
$500 to $600B
One wrecked caravan became the capital model for a $600B national housing vision. The same logic. Find what the world threw away. Transform it. Sell what it becomes.
🌿
Eco-Communities
8 communities across every Australian state. Solar. Smart infrastructure. Carbon positive. Because a home in 2026 should last a generation — not a decade.
🤝
The Promise Kept
If you don't give up on me and my family — I will do whatever you want me to do. Australia has a housing crisis. This is what God wanted him to do.
"

I never give up on God and everyone around me, including communities in need.

// The Vision

125,000 Homes. Per State.

Australia needs over 1 million new homes. Skylha is building 125,000 per state — a national rollout across all 8 jurisdictions, powered by the world's most dedicated workforce: Overseas Filipino Workers who know exactly what it means to build a life far from home.

"Filipino families building Australian families' homes — sending money back to their own families. The circular economy of care."

Skylha Homes · Mission Brief · 2026

The OFW workforce is not just a construction strategy. It is a moral statement. These are workers who leave their families to fund their families' futures — the same sacrifice this founder made when he drove 2,400 kilometres to collect his daughter. They deserve homes in the country they are building. And they will build the best homes in the world because they understand, personally, why a home matters.

The Green Economy

Every Skylha home generates green credits. Every credit funds the next home. The housing crisis and the climate crisis have the same solution.

Credit revenue recycles back into housing construction. The loop never stops.

"Every home built generates green credits. Every credit funds the next home."

Skylha Homes × GreenogyAus · 2026

The GreenogyAus GAC ecosystem ties solar EV charging credits to construction capital. 1,000 GACs = 1 ACCU (Australian Carbon Credit Unit) — ERF compliant and internationally tradeable. This is not greenwashing. This is a financial model where environmental accountability and affordable housing are not competing priorities — they are the same mechanism.

// Ownership Model

Affordable Housing, Not Charity

This is not a welfare programme. It is an ownership pathway for the Australians who have been priced out of the market — and an investment pathway for those who want to be part of the solution.
